Also to help you celebrate this day of love, here is a sweet treat for your sweetheart...and please don’t think that a sweetheart is required to indulge in this sweet sensation:

Strawberries Ducale
Strawberries Ducale

Quite simply this is fresh strawberries with 5 luscious small bowls of chocolate, creams, sugar and liqueur to dip them in.

12 fresh large ripe strawberries, washed, left whole, top stem removed

1.5oz Gran Marnier
2oz powdered sugar
2oz sour cream
2oz whipped cream (whipped & fluffy)

Chocolate Ganache:
2.5oz dark semi sweet chocolate, chopped fine
1.5oz heavy whipping cream

• You will need 5 2oz china or glass ramekin bowls.
• Place Gran Marnier, sugar, sour cream and whipped cream each in a separate bowl.
• Heat to boiling a couple inches of water in a small pot
• Heat heavy whipping cream in a plastic or glass measuring cup in microwave just long enough to make it rise as it heats, about 10-25 seconds
• Place chocolate in a mixing bowl over hot water and add warm cream, mixing well with a whisk (what you have now is warm chocolate ganache) - remove from heat immediately
• Place chocolate in the remaining 2oz china or glass ramekin bowl and serve with the other 4 bowls of creams, sugar, and liqueur for dipping the strawberries – that’s it!

A quite simple and elegant dessert that is easy to make and will earn you rave reviews from your Valentine!

Note: If you are in a rush, chocolate syrup heated in the microwave will work too, but not quite as luscious as the chocolate ganache.

Bonappetit and Happy Valentine’s Day!
